The High Tail Acres Mini Sessions are one of my favorite weekends of the year, and extremely near & dear to my heart. Being able to combine my two passions, photography and horses, and capture memories for my barn mates and barn family is my idea of perfection. The past few years, we’ve always done them in the spring, but for 2017, we decided to move them to October. In fact, they are this weekend (and I’m SO excited!)
Sydney wasn’t going to be here for the weekend of mini’s as she left to go to the New Hampton School at the beginning of September. With that in mind, we planned to have her barn mini session a bit earlier than the rest, in August.
Sydney and Shaq have an incredible bond. In the horse world, you’ll often hear the phrase “heart horse,” essentially meaning that one horse that you’ve connected with on another level, or your once-in-a-lifetime/best friend horse. Sydney has found that in Shaq.
My goal was to capture their relationship, not just a couple of headshots. I wanted to capture their personalities and the emotion; the love they have for one another. It’s my goal with all of my equine shoots. I want to tell the story of the horse and their person.
In the end, I was thrilled with what I captured. It certainly shows the love between these two.
I’ll let the photos tell the rest of the story.
